Great Black and White Photographers Pt. 3

1.What first caught my eye about the photographers photos was the live war scenes depicted. The emotion was also very strong in many of his pictures.
2. I see... a massive explosion right up a head. And another, all around me all I can see for miles is bodies, soot, and more explosions.
I smell... Gunpowder and blood, shots being fired all around, bodies strewn across the battlefield. My nose if filled with the stench of death. Of war.
I hear... yelling and screaming..."BOOM!" . A giant explosion has left me temporarily deaf. All I can hear now is ringing.
I taste... a johnny cake, as I take rations and supplies from fallen soldiers. They wont be needing it anymore.
I feel... helpless as my fellow comrades fall to the ground before my very eyes. I feel defeated, for the enemy has taken my kin.
I see... a squad of soldiers on point, ready to fire. I also see a fallen soldier lying lifeless.
I smell... the burnt flesh of my own as well as the enemy. I smell gunpowder and sulfur lingering in the air.
I hear... soldiers screaming for help. I hear leaders yelling commands and i hear the cries of those who have lost someone dear to them.
I taste... a metallic taste in my mouth. Blood. I must have been shot because I am now bleeding profusely.
I feel... overwhelmed, I didn't sign up for this! They got me with the draft!
3. I would like to build a poster to show the great piece of imagery captured by this artist.

Academics Shoot

*THESE PICTURES ARE NOT MY OWN. I DID THIS FROM HOME AND DID NOT HAVE THE PICTURES EVEN TAKEN YET. *

Balance:
1. I think I followed the rule pretty well, there are three fruits here that balance each other out in kind of a triangle.
2. The subject is a couple of fruits just chilling.
3. I believe the subject should be pretty clear to some one looking at the picture.
4. I could have took the picture myself.

Framing:
1.The rule was followed very well, there is a nice rock border around the foci of  the ocean.
2. The subject is a beautiful view.
3. I think the subject can easily be deducted from the picture.
4. I could have took the picture myself.

Lines:
1. The rule was followed quite well, this picture is a great representation of incorporating lines into a picture.
2. The subject is a library.
3. Yes anybody can see that.
4. I could have took the picture myself.

Avoiding Mergers:
1. The rule was broken quite well, it seems as though the pole is coming out of her head.
2. The subject is a girl posing with a merger in the background.
3. I'm sure many people can deduct that from this picture.
4. I could have took the picture myself.

Rule of Thirds:
1. I think the rule was followed really well, the focus of the picture( the tree) is in the bottom right corner of where a grid would be. It draws nice focus to the tree.
2. The subject is a beautiful sunset with a tree in the middle of water.
3. I think someone would mainly think the subject is the beautiful sunset when in fact it is mainly the tree.
4. This picture would be better if i took it myself.

Simplicity:
1. I believe the rule was followed very well, there is a solid background with one object as the focus.
2. The subject of this picture is a book.
3. Seeing as it is the only thing seen in the picture I believe the subject can quickly be detected.
4. This picture would be better if I took it myself.

Africa

1. All of these pictures are stunning, they are perfect moments in time caught by a great photographer.
2. My favorite picture is the one with the lion and lioness nudging each other .

3. In the picture the mighty lion is showing his affection to a lioness or perhaps even a cub. It is my favorite picture because of the strong emotion captured.
4. A) Nick Brandt uses a Pentax 67II
    B) He takes these photos to show animal beauty and so people can see what they are helping kill with all of there poor choices.
    C) He hopes that people will see his pictures and want to change in a positive manner that will help the animals.
D)"I'm not interested in creating work that is simply documentary or filled with action and drama, which has been the norm in the photography of animals in the wild. What I am interested in is showing the animals simply in the state of Being. In the state of Being before they are no longer are. Before, in the wild at least, they cease to exist. This world is under terrible threat, all of it caused by us. To me, every creature, human or nonhuman, has an equal right to live, and this feeling, this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera. The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes."
